Social Prescribing Day 2024 – event for all

Social Prescribing Day takes place on 14 March. It is a chance to raise awareness about the work of social prescribers within primary care and the community.

On this day, you can find some of our local social prescribers at the Derbion Community Room, 9:30am - 13:30pm. They will be talking about how they support communities through the work they do.

Changes to Medical Examiner process

The statutory implementation of the medical examiner system is coming to all GP practices by April 2024 (under legislation in the 2022 Health and Care Act).

The medical examiner system has been successfully running in our acute trusts and the rollout to primary care completes the final stages of the nationwide process.  A medical examiner will review the clinical notes to agree the cause of death or suggest a referral to the coroner. As part of the process the medical examiner will speak to the bereaved and talk through any questions they have.

You can find out more about the medical examiner service on the NHS England website.

Details of the bereavement services across Derbyshire can be found on the University Hospitals of Derby and Burton website and the Chesterfield Royal Hospital website.

This session will focus on social prescribing, and we will hear from Clare Burgess, Partnerships Manager and Fay Benskin, Social Prescribing Team Manager and Personalised Care Roles Ambassador.

Social prescribing is an approach that connects people to activities, groups, and services in their community and is being delivered across Derbyshire. The aim of the session is to tell you more about social prescribing, what it is, where it came from and how it operates in Derbyshire.

If you wish to subscribe to Derbyshire Dialogue emails, please email ddicb.engagement@nhs.net with 'Subscribe to Derbyshire Dialogue' in the subject line.

Flu Vaccine Survey

Healthwatch Derbyshire are wanting to hear from parents and guardians, about what they think about flu vaccines for 1-3 year olds.

They’re want to know more about what might influence your decisions to give your children the flu vaccine, and if there’s any barriers which might stop you vaccinating your little ones.

They’re running a quick five-minute survey, and are wanting to speak to a few parents 1-1 over the phone. If you’re interested in getting your voice heard, contact Healthwatch Derbyshire for a quick chat on 01773 880786 or email: enquiries@healthwatchderbyshire.co.uk.

You can take their survey here: www.smartsurvey.co.uk/s/child-flu-survey
