Ejaz discusses the importance of working together with our minority communities to tackle health inequalities. Ejaz also attended the recent Derby and Derbyshire ICB board meeting to present the high blood pressure project and shares his reflections.

New telephone systems and online booking improve patient experience at GP practices

New telephone systems and improved online booking are helping to beat the 8am rush at GP practices in Derby and Derbyshire.

Most practices in the city and county have upgraded their telephone systems and all 112 practices now offer appointments and repeat prescription requests online.

At Gresleydale Healthcare Centre in Swadlincote practice staff worked together with their Patient Participation Group to implement the changes in telephone and website systems.

Innovative kit which translates 240 languages now available at University Hospitals of Derby and Burton

Innovative technology that allows for 240 languages to be translated at the touch of button, is improving patient experience and reducing appointment cancellations at University Hospitals of Derby and Burton.

The Trust has introduced the pioneering new machines, which provide immediate translation using real life interpreters, 24 hours a day.

If you're a parent or carer then you might be interested in Derbyshire County Council’s free family health support service. Healthier Futures offers a range of online and one off courses covering topics such as fussy eating, healthy eating on a budget and how to make meals less stressful.

Did you know you don't always need to see a GP or consultant to access some referral services? Self-referral is an option that can make it easier and faster for you to get help, rather than seeing your doctor.

You can register for most of them online. Find out more.
