How to access your GP practice team: a guide by Healthwatch Derbyshire

A guide to help patients understand how to access their GP practice team and the different types of healthcare staff that work there has been created by Healthwatch Derbyshire and the Derby and Derbyshire Local Medical Committee.

Helen Henderson, Chief Executive at Healthwatch Derbyshire, said:  "The 'How to Access Your GP Practice Team' guide is a very useful resource for Derbyshire residents, as it breaks down the various ways to engage with GP services. By providing clear, step-by-step guidance, the guide helps make sure that everyone can access the right care. This is especially important to help people be seen by the right person for their needs, meaning we can all do our part to help ease the strain on the NHS and the people who work hard to keep us well"

Dr Ben Milton, GP and Medical Director, Derby and Derbyshire Local Medical Committee (LMC) said:  "We are hugely grateful to Healthwatch Derbyshire for their work on this document. We recognise that patients don't always know how best to contact their GP practice, but we also know that practices are really struggling to meet demand at the moment with limited resources and a reducing GP workforce. Derbyshire GP practices welcome anything that helps support their patients to successfully connect with the right person first time when reaching out for help, whatever their needs might be and this document supports that effort."
