Joined Up Care Derbyshire – the local partnership of health and care organisations – will hold its Board meetings in public from January 2020.
Opening up planning and decision making to public scrutiny is the main reason for the move, with the first meeting in public taking place on Thursday 16th January 2020, 9am-12noon at The Hub in South Normanton.
Joined Up Care Derbyshire is one of 44 Sustainability and Transformation Partnerships (STP) across England. STPs bring together health and social care organisations with the ambition of providing the best care and services for people and make them as efficient and effective as possible.
Joined Up Care Derbyshire submitted its most recent plan to NHS regulators in November 2019, and having experienced a pause in discussions to account for the General Election, the Board will place a spotlight on the plan and the ways in which the partnership will continue to implement improvements at its first meeting. This will include discussion on the development of Integrated Care Partnerships, when current public health and care service providers will work together locally to understanding the needs of people in areas of the city and county and and provide services accordingly.
John MacDonald, Chair of Joined Up Care Derbyshire, said:
“The main aim of the Board moving to a meeting in public is to increase transparency of the planning and decision-making around health and care services in the Derbyshire STP. We want to increase the opportunities for local people to become involved and knowledgeable about the work of the Derbyshire health and care system and to reflect the focussed approach to transforming health and care services for the people of Derbyshire.
Each meeting will start with a patient story to demonstrate current improvements being seen across local health services and provide the Board with an opportunity to reflect on when further improvements may be required. The meetings in public will also offer the opportunity for members of the public to ask questions in advance of the meeting, on topics relating that month’s agenda.
Members of the public are invited to come along to The Hub at South Normanton for all or part of the meeting and any questions on agenda topics must be submitted 48 hours in advance of the meeting. Verbal answers will be provided where possible at the meeting and all questions will receive a written response. Further questions may be taken on the day following the conclusion of the main business, but this will be at the discretion of the Board Chair.
