Joined Up Care Derbyshire – the local partnership of health and care organisations – will hold its Board meeting in public on 20 February 2020.
Moving to meetings in public is aimed at opening up planning and decision making to public scrutiny, and the first such meeting held in January attracted attendance from members of the public and media.
The second meeting in public taking place on Thursday 20 February 2020, 9am-12noon at The Hub in South Normanton, and monthly thereafter.
Joined Up Care Derbyshire is one of 44 Sustainability and Transformation Partnerships (STP) across England. STPs bring together health and social care organisations with the ambition of providing the best care and services for people and make them as efficient and effective as possible.
John MacDonald, Chair of Joined Up Care Derbyshire, said:
“The main aim of the Board moving to a meeting in public is to increase transparency of the planning and decision-making around health and care services in the Derbyshire STP. We want to increase the opportunities for local people to become involved and knowledgeable about the work of the Derbyshire health and care system and to reflect the focussed approach to transforming health and care services for the people of Derbyshire.
“We were really pleased to welcome members of the public and media to our first meeting in January and it was testament to the way that the Board is operating that the discussion was as rigorous and detailed as at our previous meetings held in private."
Each meeting will start with a patient story to demonstrate current improvements being seen across local health services and provide the Board with an opportunity to reflect on when further improvements may be required. The meetings in public will also offer the opportunity for members of the public to ask questions in advance of the meeting, on topics relating that month’s agenda.
Members of the public are invited to come along to The Hub at South Normanton for all or part of the meeting and any questions on agenda topics must be submitted 48 hours in advance of the meeting. Verbal answers will be provided where possible at the meeting and all questions will receive a written response. Further questions may be taken on the day following the conclusion of the main business, but this will be at the discretion of the Board Chair.
The full agenda for the board meeting will be posted online ahead of the meeting.
