Three more years for Derbyshire's drug and alcohol support service

A service that has helped hundreds of people in Derbyshire overcome problems with drugs and alcohol has had its contract renewed.

Derbyshire Recovery Partnership has been awarded a three-year contract by Derbyshire County Council to continue providing a drug and alcohol treatment service with the option of extending for another seven years.

The partnership brings together the skills of Derbyshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, local charity Derbyshire Addictions Advice Service, national charity Phoenix Futures and education specialist Intuitive Thinking Skills, and has been chosen once again by Derbyshire County Council to provide an innovative, recovery-focused service.

You can read more on the Derbyshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust website.

Patients urged to "Think Pharmacy First"

The "Pharmacy First" scheme launched in January. People who have minor conditions are being invited to visit their local pharmacy for quick and effective treatment. Every pharmacy in Derby and Derbyshire is now part of the Pharmacy First scheme, which enables pharmacists to provide treatment for conditions that would previously have required a GP appointment.

You can read a local case study on the Pharmacy First service in the Joined up Care Derbyshire newsletter.

Further details on how the Pharmacy First scheme works can be found on our website.
