FREEDOM OF INFORMATION – DECISION NOTICE
Dear Sir / Madam,
FOI Reference Number: 1686
Do you have a clear pathway in primary care for the investigation of non-cancer related lower gastrointestinal symptoms that include the use of faecal calprotectin tests?
If so, I would appreciate if you are able to share any details you may have.
Response:
There is clear communication around using Faecal Calprotectin FCP tests, especially in under 40s with persistent abdominal pain and /or changes in bowel habit. FCP testing is the best way to detect early inflammatory bowel and features on South Yorkshire and Bassetlaw ICB’s lower GI pathway, which is what we have adopted in Derbyshire.
Please see details of the pathway on the letter response.
I hope that this answers your queries with the information we currently hold, but if I can be of any further assistance please do not hesitate to contact me.
If you are dissatisfied with the handling of your request, you have the right to ask for an internal review. Internal review requests should be submitted within two months of the date of receipt of the response to your original letter and should be addressed to:
