New Position for John MacDonald

NHS Derby and Derbyshire Integrated Care Board Chair John MacDonald has confirmed that he will leave his role in the summer to become Chair of University Hospitals of Northamptonshire NHS Group, which comprises Kettering General Hospital and Northampton General Hospital.  John will start his new role on 1 July 2023 and will retain his chair role at University Hospitals of Leicester, signalling closer working between the three acute trusts.

John MacDonald said: “It has been a privilege to work once again in Derby and Derbyshire, a patch where I operated as a Chief Executive earlier in my career.  As chair of the Joined Up Care Derbyshire Board and more recently the Integrated Care Board, I believe our system has made great steps in collaboration and partnership, navigating through some of the most challenging periods that have ever faced our services and citizens. There is some symmetry that the announcement of my new role comes in the week that our system looks to approve its first Integrated Care Strategy.  I am proud of everyone’s achievements and very grateful for the exceptional work that has made such a difference, as the ICB continues to establish itself.”

Interim Chair arrangements will be confirmed in due course, as a comprehensive appointment process to substantively replace John gets underway.
