EMED selected as provider for non-emergency patient transport service
EMED Patient Care (a division of EMED Group) has been selected to provide non-emergency patient transport services in the NHS Derby and Derbyshire area, from 1 April 2025.
The decision follows an open and robust procurement process led by NHS Derby and Derbyshire Integrated Care Board and supported by NHS Arden and Greater East Midlands Commissioning Support Unit.
The decision took into account a comprehensive assessment of submissions for operational delivery, service quality, patient feedback, management of complaints, service improvement, patient safety and comfort, corporate and environmental responsibility, social value, HR and workforce, information governance, equality, diversity and human rights.
It means the service will continue to be provided to the usual high standard by its current provider East Midlands Ambulance Service NHS Trust (EMAS) and will transfer when the contract begins on 1 April 2025.
Staff will transfer under the “TUPE” regulations under their same terms and conditions to the new provider and patients will continue to receive the same high standard of service as normal.
The contract is for three years, with an option to extend for a further two years.
EMAS and EMED Patient Care will work together over the coming months to ensure a smooth handover with minimum amount of disruption to both staff and patients.
