Innovation Exchanges

Our Innovation Exchange programme connects health and care partners to develop and implement viable solutions. Through annual activities aligned with the major health challenges of the East Midlands, the Innovation Exchange fosters:

  1. Definition of needs.
  2. Support and guidance for innovators.
  3. Real-world validation of innovations.
  4. Widespread adoption of effective solutions.

Health Innovation East Midlands brings together partners from all sectors involved in health and care, including the NHS, social care and public health, patients, research, third sector and industry – to identify, test and spread new technologies and better ways of working to improve health outcomes for patients.

‘Innovation Exchange’ is our approach to bringing together industry (where most innovations happen) and the NHS to identify, select, and support the adoption of innovation in response to health system challenges.

We interact with many companies regularly who have developed new and exciting innovations that aim to improve the surgical pathway to benefit both patients and our organisations. This could include new technology to help patients to ‘wait well’ for their surgery, to help address waiting times, or devices to improve patient care and experience on the day of surgery.

We are keen to discover ‘problems to solve’ in this area to decide which of these innovations might be able to meet an identified need.
