Interim Executive Director of Commissioning

Maria is an experienced NHS leader with almost three decades of experience in commissioning, transformation and system delivery and is recognised for the strategic and operational leadership she provides across urgent and emergency care, elective recovery, mental health, cancer, diagnostics and primary care.

Maria has extensive board-level experience, having led commissioning within the city of Nottingham. She played a key role in supporting financial turnaround and improving system sustainability in this role and during her tenure as Turnaround Lead at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust, and was also the lead for Nottingham and Nottinghamshire’s response during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Maria holds an MBA (Law) with a focus on contracting, which brings a strong commercial and governance perspective to the NHS leadership she provides and was also a considerable contributing factor in her successful development of the NHS System Analytics Intelligence Unit in Nottinghamshire.
