Mehrunnisa Lalani

Non-Executive Director

Mehrunnisa has been a Non-Executive Director on the University Hospital Birmingham Board for 6 years. She chairs the Trusts People and Culture Committee and is a member of the Clinical Quality Committee.

She brings with her over 20 years’ experience of working with diverse sectors across local government, voluntary sector and HM Prison Service. She completed her employed career with the Solicitors Regulation Authority where she was Director of Inclusion leading a portfolio which included Consumer Affairs, Corporate Complaints and Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI).

Mehrunnisa works as a freelance OD disrupter and consultant specialising in cultural transformation around EDI, workforce, conflict resolution and stakeholder relationship management.

She is currently the EDI strategic lead for Coventry University Group and a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy’s Fitness to Practice.

 She is also a member of the Post Office Scandal Research Advisory Group.

 Mehrunnisa started to volunteer within her community and the wider society from the age of 10 and her faith and upbringing have been a major influence in defining the values by which she lives her life. She mentors and supports a number of individuals to thrive and progress in their careers.

 She is a member of the Seacole Group and Asian Professionals National Alliance NHS Group.

 Mehrunnisa has held a number of non-executive positions in the health and voluntary sector within the East Midlands. She has served on Strategic Health Authorities, Advisory Committee on Clinical Excellence Awards and on the board of a Clinical Commissioning Group.

Nationally she has been a member of the Doctors and Dentists Pay Review Body. She has a Postgraduate Diploma in Health Studies, a Joint Negotiating Committee Qualification in Youth and Community Work and an MA in Health and Community Studies.
