1. How many people in your area have been diagnosed with MS?
2. If possible, please provide a breakdown of those with Remitting MS and those with Progressive MS (including Secondary Progressive).
3. If possible, please provide a breakdown of 2) above showing those that are Male or Female and age (within bands of 10 years from 0 upwards).
4. What is the total annual funding provided in respect of MS. Please provide a breakdown of the funding that relates to “core service provision” and the amount that relates to individual treatment (such as cost of medication, etc).
5. If funding is being used for the provision of medication, please say what the average annual spend is for those patients who have Remitting MS and those that have Progressive MS (if data is available).
6. In relation to those patients who have Secondary Progressive MS, do you help fund the cost of the patient receiving Siponimod (Mayzent). If yes, please provide the total number of cases where funding is being provided and average annual spend. If you do not provide funding for such cases, would you consider to do so if the patient contributed towards the funding?
7. If known, do you contribute towards the domiciliary care costs of patients who have Progressive MS (including Secondary Progressive). If so, please say the average annual spend.

Our response:
I can confirm that we do not hold information to the level of detail required to respond to all of your questions.
According to the information that we hold, the number of diagnoses of MS in Derbyshire that we are able to readily identify is currently 93, however this only represents diagnoses in secondary care. We are not able to identify diagnoses in primary care.
Please see the attached spreadsheet for all of the further information specifically relating to MS related procedures that we are able to provide. The spreadsheet shows Derbyshire activity and spend on MS procedures across several hospital Trusts in 2021/22.
