Reschedule health appointments if teacher strikes prevent you attending

Healthcare providers across Derby and Derbyshire are asking patients who cannot attend an appointment due to the impact of the teacher strikes to call and reschedule as soon as possible.

The National Education Union has announced a series of strikes beginning on February 1 and running through until March 16, with the effects varying between schools.

This is expected to have an impact on parents and carers who will need to arrange alternative childcare on days with teacher strikes, and so be unable to work or attend pre-booked appointments.

If you have an appointment that needs to be rescheduled due to school closures, please contact your care provider so the appointment can be offered to someone else.

The strikes may affect some healthcare services due to staff absence, but appointments will take place as planned unless you are contacted. People should continue to use 111.nhs.uk/ for urgent medical help.
