It provides urgent care and treatment for patients with illnesses and injuries that are not life or limb-threatening but require urgent attention.

The same services will continue to be provided and there will no interruption in care for patients.

DHU Healthcare due to take over on 1 July this year, subject to a contract signed by both parties being in place. The contract is initially until 31 March 2027, with an option to extend for a further two years.

NHS Derby and Derbyshire would like to thank One Medical Group and their staff for all their hard work over the course of the last 9 years and for their contribution to the Derbyshire urgent care system.

The Urgent Treatment Centre will deliver urgent care and treatment for patients with illnesses and injuries that are not life or limb-threatening but require urgent attention. It is available for both walk-in treatment and referrals.

The service will work alongside other parts of the urgent care network including GP practices, primary care, community pharmacists, ambulances, and other community-based services to provide a locally accessible and convenient alternative to A&E for patients who do not need to attend hospital.

NHS Derby and Derbyshire will be working closely with DHU Healthcare to bring about improvements to the experience of patients who use Derby Urgent Treatment Centre.

This will include working more collaboratively with University Hospitals Derby and Burton Foundation Trust, Derbyshire Healthcare Foundation Trust, NHS 111 and with primary and community care providers.

This will be aimed at supporting effective development and improvements around onward referrals and supporting urgent on the day access so patients can be seen in the right place, at the right time.

Derby Urgent Treatment Centre will cater to around 52,000 patients each year, with the centre open from 8am–8pm, every day of the week and 365 days of the year.

DHU Healthcare will be working closely with the existing provider of services and with existing staff to ensure a seamless transfer of services and employment.
