Non Emergency Patient Transport services contract update

EMED Patient Care (a division of EMED Group) has withdrawn its offer to provide Non Emergency Patient Transport services in the NHS Derby and Derbyshire Integrated Care Board area, from 1 April 2025.

In April this year NHS Derby and Derbyshire Integrated Care Board had selected EMED as the new provider of these services.

This followed a robust and open procurement process.

Since that time EMED has been working together with the current provider East Midlands Ambulance Service NHS Trust (EMAS) to prepare to take over the service.

EMED has also been working together with NHS Derby and Derbyshire Integrated Care Board (ICB) to finalise the contract for delivery of the service.

However, EMED and the ICB were unable to agree contract terms and EMED has now withdrawn its interest in providing the service.

This means that East Midlands Ambulance Service NHS Trust will continue to provide the service after 1 April 2025, pending a decision by the ICB regarding the service provision in future.

NHS Derby and Derbyshire Integrated Care Board will now work together with East Midlands Ambulance Service NHS Trust to ensure the service continues to be provided to its usual high standards.

NHS Derby and Derbyshire Integrated Care Board would like to thank colleagues at both East Midlands Ambulance Service NHS Trust and EMED for their professionalism and commitment to patients during this process.
