World diabetes day 2023

100 years ago, Frederick Banting and John Macleod won a Nobel Prize for discovering the treatment which has gone on to save millions of lives around the world – insulin.

Since then, our scientists have made incredible breakthroughs – from helping people with type 1 to make their own insulin, to putting type 2 into remission. And we’re getting closer to a cure every day.

All this has only been possible because of you. But there’s still more to do.

Here are some ways you can get involved:

Raising money

  • Do a sponsored activity that anyone can participate in, such as a walk.
  • Invite your colleagues to wear our signature blue for the day and make a donation.
  • Hold a bake sale or pot luck lunch – there are plenty of tasty and balanced recipes on the Diabetes UK website

Whatever you do, get as many people as you can be involved in the fun!

Paint your nails blue on 14 November to help raise vital awareness – and show people living with diabetes they’re not alone.

Get together with your team, choose your shade and get involved. Why not set up a nail painting station in your workplace, and take donations from everyone – you can even get official Diabetes UK nail polish from our shop!

Remember to take plenty of photos to share!
