We want to support people who have a learning disability or are autistic.

Some people may have both a learning disability and be autistic.

We estimate there are around 20,000 people in Derby and Derbyshire show have a learning disability.

We know from our GPs that more than 3,000 people are autistic (who do not also have a learning disability).

The NHS England website has an overview on learning disabilities and the Derbyshire Healthcare website has further information on learning disabilities.

Annual health checks

People with a learning disability often have worse physical and mental health than other people.

This does not need to be the case.

Annual health checks for adults and young people aged 14 or over with a learning disability will help you to identify and manage any health issues you may have.
