Sheffield ADHD and Autism waiting list
Updated 17 December 2025
Sheffield Health and Social Care NHS Foundation Trust stopped offering services for Autism and ADHD assessments for people in Derby and Derbyshire in October 2024.
Options available for local people since October 2024 are:
- request an assessment, via referral from your GP, from a provider on the national NHS framework, using your “right to choose”.
- remain on the local waiting list until a new, local, service is in place
We wrote to everyone on the waiting list in late 2024 to check people wanted to be assessed.
You can still leave the waiting list at any time by emailing us at ddicb.enquiries@nhs.net. Please include your name, date of birth, NHS number and whether you were waiting for autism or ADHD assessment. How to find your NHS Number.
NHS Derby and Derbyshire has made progress in commissioning a new service:
- understanding the requirements of GPs in the way they prescribe medications for ADHD
- coproducing the service specification, working with clinicians, people with lived experience and support organisations
- identified funding to pay for assessments for people who are on the waiting list
Detailed contractual discussions are under way with a new, local, provider organisation.
Once the contract is agreed:
- we will contact everyone on the waiting list individually
- we and the new provider will meet with GPs to agree shared care arrangements and support for them with ongoing medication prescribing if this is prescribed for ADHD
- we will agree a timescale, including monthly progress points, to clear the waiting list
This transfer to any new service provider will include sharing relevant information from your referral and any screening information from pre-assessment questionnaires.
If you need to update your information, email ddicb.enquiries@nhs.net in the meantime.
