Timetabled Activities to Promote Wellbeing
Our Wellbeing Survey findings revealed an increased demand from colleagues to support social connections, to help combat feelings of isolation.
Taking part in a Wellbeing Timetabled activity can be a great way to meet new colleagues, learn new skills and improve your physical, mental and emotional health.
Your Wellbeing Timetable includes a wealth of weekly in-person physical activity sessions which help to improve mood and fitness and promote social wellbeing.
Mondays: Salsa Dancing from 4.45pm – 6pm at Kingsway Hospital Derby, Yoga 5.15pm – 6pm at Royal Derby Hospital, Pilates 6pm -7pm at Chesterfield Royal Hospital
Tuesdays: Table Tennis Club from 5pm – 7pm at Royal Derby Hospital, Zumba Fitness 5.15pm – 6pm at Ilkeston Hospital
Wednesdays: Zumba 5.15pm – 6pm at Royal Derby Hospital
Thursdays: Women’s Football 6pm – 7pm at Littleover School, Hatha Yoga 5.15pm – 6.15pm at Chesterfield Royal Hospital
Fridays: Running Club 12pm – 12.30pm at Royal Derby Hospital
Can’t make an in-person session?
We also deliver a series of virtual sessions to support colleagues across the system. The team works hard to build a sense of community in our online sessions, encouraging a sense of social wellbeing for participants. The following virtual sessions help to promote physical and social wellbeing:
Mondays: Legs, Bums & Tums 1pm-1.30pm, Zumba 6.30pm – 7pm
Tuesdays: Fitness Boost 7.30am – 8am, Bodyweight Circuits 1pm – 1.30pm, Beginners Yoga 6.30pm – 7pm, Legs, Bums & Tums 6.30pm – 7pm
Wednesdays: Menopause Yoga 8am – 8.30am, Pilates 5pm – 5.30pm
Thursdays: Kettlebells 7.30am – 8am, Yoga 12.30pm – 1pm, Back Care Pilates 1pm-1.30pm, Funky Disco 5pm – 5.30pm
Fridays: Full Body Workout 8.30am – 9am

Table Tennis Hard Bat Tournament – for those interested in table tennis, entries are now open for our hard bat scratch table tennis singles and doubles tournament.
Taking place on Tuesday 16th April at 5.30pm at RDH, the tournament is open for all colleagues/volunteers.
Entry fee is £3 for singles and £2 for doubles, which includes light refreshments, trophies and prizes.
Closing date for entries is on Friday 5th April 2024.

Studies have shown that becoming involved in charitable events/activities is another way to help promote wellbeing, increasing feelings of self-esteem and social connection, whilst also providing a sense of purpose by giving back to the community.
Derby & Burton Hospitals Charity have a fantastic range of events coming up, a chance to meet other colleagues whilst also helping to raise funds to support patients and staff in our hospitals.
For those interested in running, you can enter a range of organised running events to support Derby and Burton Hospitals Charity:
