Each death from suicide can cause intense grief and emotional distress for friends, family and the wider community. Evidence shows that up to 135 people are impacted by each death and that they may be at higher risk from suicide themselves.
There is local and national support available.
Local Support
The Tomorrow Project is a specialised suicide bereavement support service and is here to help anyone bereaved or affected by suicide. We are an all-age service, meaning we can support adults and children.
Support is delivered in 1-to-1 sessions with one of our specially trained clinical support workers and is tailored to meet your individual emotional and practical needs.
If you live in Derby City or Derbyshire County and would like support with how you are feeling, contact us:
Survivors of Bereavement by Suicide (SoBS) offer UK peer-led support to adults impacted by suicide loss.
National Support
Help is at Hand is a resource for people bereaved through suicide or other unexplained death and for people helping them.
First Hand is a free online resource for anyone affected by witnessing a suicide, when they did not know the person who has died. This may be because someone happened to be at a particular location or because their job involves responding to these incidents.
Winston’s Wish is a charity helping children, teenagers and young adults (up to the age of 25) find their feet when their worlds are turned upside down by grief.
