I am writing to you under the Freedom of Information Act to request information with regards to outsourcing of radiology reporting to teleradiology providers for both out-of-hours and routine/elective scans.
Could you please provide the following information regarding your use of teleradiology services:
1. Do you currently use teleradiology companies for radiology reporting?
2. Which companies’ teleradiology services have you contracted in the last 5 financial years?
a. For each teleradiology company, which service did you utilise them for: routine/elective, day-time urgent or out-of-hours reporting?
3. Over the last 5 financial years (2016-17, 2017-18, 2018-19, 2020-21, 2021-22):
a. How many routine/elective CT scans, MRI scans and X-rays were performed each year?
b. How many day-time urgent CT scans, MRI scans and X-rays were performed each year?
c. How many out-of-hours CT scans, MRI scans and X-rays were performed each year?
d. What proportion of routine/elective CT scans, MRI scans and X-rays were outsourced to a teleradiology company for reporting each year?
e. What proportion of day-time urgent CT scans, MRI scans and X-rays were outsourced to a teleradiology company for reporting each year?
f. What proportion of out-of-hours CT scans, MRI scans and X-rays were outsourced to a teleradiology company for reporting each year?
