New responsibilities for ICB

NHS Derby and Derbyshire ICB takes on delegated responsibility from NHS England for the Commissioning of Pharmacy, Dental and Optometry services from 1 April 2023. Responsibility for commissioning will sit within the ICB’s Strategy and Planning Directorate, but the commissioning and contracting function will continue to be delivered by the NHS England Midlands primary care commissioning team.  The team will transfer from NHS England to NHS Nottingham and Nottinghamshire ICB from 1 July 2023, continuing to act as a commissioning team at scale on behalf of the five East Midlands ICBs.

Complaints for these services will also continue to be managed by NHSE until July, along with other correspondence from politicians and other stakeholders, before being managed by Nottingham and Nottinghamshire ICB in July.  Further information on pharmacy, optician and dentistry services can be found here.  The services themselves will see no change because of this delegation, and NHSE retains the lead for the contract with these providers.
