Mobile Covid-19 vaccination service to roll out across Derbyshire

13-14 January, 10am – 3pm @ The Hub @ Low Pavement, 61-63 Low Pavement, Chesterfield, S40 1PB

Whether it’s your first, second or booster dose, if you’re 16+ the mobile COVID-19 vaccination service will be able to help you

A mobile COVID-19 vaccination service will be rolling into communities across Derby and Derbyshire over the next couple of months in an effort to reach those who either keep meaning to get their life-saving first, second or booster dose, but haven’t got round to it or those who still have some questions about the vaccine which they would like to talk through.

First stop for the new mobile COVID-19 vaccination service will be Chesterfield town centre. The special unit will be setting up shop at The Hub @ Low Pavement, 13-14 January, 10am – 3pm.

Many will know the site as being next to Eden Mobility, near the town centre Tesco. The full address is: 61-63 Low Pavement, Chesterfield, S40 1PB.

The mobile service will be able to offer first doses to anyone over the age of 16, second doses to anyone over the age of 16 who has waited at least eight weeks since their first dose, and the booster vaccination to anyone over the age of 18 where it has been three months (91 days) since they received their 2nd dose. There are no appointments needed; people can just walk-in and do not need to be registered with a GP to receive the vaccine. The mobile service will be using the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine.

Dr Steve Lloyd, Medical Director at NHS Derby and Derbyshire CCG, said of the new mobile COVID-19 vaccination service:

“The mobile vaccination unit will help us to reach parts of the community who may have struggled to get to one of our vaccination centres.

“The Omicron variant has spread extremely quickly and we are seeing more people in hospital with COVID-19 than we have for many weeks. We hope the new unit will help to reduce the impact of this variant in the community and in our hospitals.

“Whether it’s your first, second or booster dose, it will help to protect you, your friends and your family from the virus. Don’t delay, get vaccinated today.”

Dr P-J Flann, GP Partner Inspire Health, Avenue House Surgery and Clinical Director for Chesterfield and Dronfield Primary Care Network, said:

“We’re really excited to be bringing the new mobile COVID-19 vaccination service to Chesterfield.

“We know there are many reasons why people haven’t got round to getting their first, second or booster dose. Maybe you just haven’t had time yet, maybe you still have some questions about the vaccine or maybe you just keep forgetting to get it. Whatever it is that has got in the way of you getting your first, second or booster dose of this life-saving vaccine, the mobile service is in Chesterfield this week to support you.

If people are worried about coming forward for their first dose at this time, they shouldn’t be. We’ll be delighted that you’ve come forward and there will be no questions asked. There will be medical staff on-hand to talk through any questions you might have about the vaccine and the vaccination process.

“We hope that our first stop in Chesterfield will be the first of many and look forward to visiting many communities across Derby and Derbyshire in the coming weeks to help get the life-saving COVID-19 vaccination to as many people as possible.”

Subsequent dates and locations for the mobile vaccine unit will be announced soon.

The mobile vaccination unit has been commissioned by NHS Derby and Derbyshire CCG and is being operated by Chesterfield and Dronfield Primary Care Network in partnership with Derbyshire Community Health Services, Derbyshire County Council and ARC primary care.
